Almost 40% of smart phones shipped to EMEA are GPS enabled August 15,2008 - Enpronomics Press. The number of GPS enabled smart phones shipped to EMEA in Q2 2008 has increased by 28% for the same period in 2007. Nokia takes the first position with around 70% of the total shipments. As indicated by Nokia all of its new smart phones will be GPS enabled. RIM takes the second position with 7% of the total shipments.. The impact on location based services can't be ignored specially in the area of personal safety that has been lagging other Location based services.
